Cicim is a traditional Turkish weaving technique that involves interlacing colored pattern threads between the weft and warp to create raised, embroidered-like designs on the fabric's surface. Unlike kilims, cicim textiles often have distinct front and back appearances due to the additional pattern threads. Typically woven in narrow strips called "kanat," these pieces are later sewn together to form larger textiles used as floor coverings, wall hangings, or decorative items. The weaving process is intricate, often requiring two artisans: one managing the pattern and warp threads from the front, and another guiding the pattern threads from the back.
